Wildfires are still sweeping through the LA area. The Palisades Fire is just 14% contained and the Eaton Fire is 33% contained. Hurricane-force winds are threatening to spark new blazes that could deepen the crisis.
The death toll is terrible: 24 people dead, 23 missing, more than 300 families in Pacific Palisades displaced from their homes. President Joe Biden said the nation was grieving, and added, “Our hearts ache for the 24 innocent souls we have lost.” Whole neighborhoods are reduced to ash, and the fires have taken a serious toll on air quality throughout the region.
Smoke from wildfires has fine particles in the range of 0.4 to 0.7 microns — a size that poses serious health hazards. Holtop Ventilation Systems are enhanced with advanced Multiple HEPA filters that eliminates 99% of these airborne particles providing best indoor air quality during such crises.
Holtop’s wall-mounted ERV version with CO2 protection goes a step further by automatically adjusting to high-speed operation in response to elevated levels of CO2, allowing for fresh air even in smoky environments.
As smoke can clog filters more quickly, Holtop recommends vacuuming the filters or changing the filters after the fire season to help them work more efficiently.
